Customer Reviews: Cheap Junk! August 1, 2010 J. R. San Miguel (Earth) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My youngest son bought this at the local Game Stop with his own money. It ran for about 6 minutes!. Here is a small list of the problems:
1. The battery holder inside of the Mongoose, is so poorly fitted, that even a simple bump into a wall, or over Lego piece will cause it to become dislodged, thus removing power to the system!
2. It is very very slow! Think of a desert tortoise and this toy is half the speed of that!
3. It SMELLS extremely strong of chemicals, I would actually call this thing TOXIC!
4. After 4 dislodging of the batter pack, it no longer operated and smelled even more. I believe that since the battery pack is so loose, that it caused the motor to arc, thus ruining it.
5. For the short time it ran, the range was about 4 feet, and that was with my son lying on the floor, level with it. Well for as slow as it goes, it takes a bit to get to 4 feet away!
6. I would add more yet it did not last long enough.
7. This was the same for both units! We exchanged the first one, and returned the second one, that one lasted 4 minutes, and we never bumped it! Just tried to make my Son happy.
So far every Halo toy that my children have bought/received has been a piece of junk, and they are not cheap! The statuettes are fine, yet they also have the toxic smell. I am no longer going to allow any more Halo branded toys in my household.
Not what I was expecting April 11, 2010 Mary (Demorest, GA) I bought two different remote control Halo vehicles. I thought they would be a little bigger than they were, but they kids like playing with them. I don't know if I have crappy batteries in it, but I had to replace them the very next day. They played with them for about an hour. I would like to think they would last more than an hour with any kind of battery. I haven't tried buying a brand name battery yet, I have been buying the store brand. They turn them off after playing with them, so I know it wasn't that they wasted the batteries. The kids enjoy them though. One is 8 and the other is 11.
My boys Love it! January 22, 2010 J. Brent At first I wasn't sure if this was going to be a waste of money or not, but my boys absolutely love their Halo Radio controlled vehicles. By using re-chargeable batteries they've played with them for hours. They've made little jumps for them but know not to fly them down the stairs and they've worked great from the start and continue to work as new. I'm very happy with this purchase.
Fun, but fragile January 6, 2010 Miss Phluffy (Utah USA) Like the previous review said, it IS a fun toy, while it works. I got one for my 13 year old brother who loves Halo. He loved it! But it only took one very short drop for the front wheel to explode, and be completely unrepairable.
I was hoping that the "Master Chief" that comes with it would be as posable as the action figures you can buy individually. His legs are permanently bent though.
Long story short: Kind of disappointing, but I still think it was worth it. It made Christmas Day really fun.
Lots of fun until it broke within 1 day December 29, 2009 Pam (Holland) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I just want others to know--this toy was a lot of fun--my son's favorite Christmas gift. He is nearly 7 and used it carefully, indoors only, and by Dec 26 it didn't work anymore.
