| Customer Reviews: Leaky but fun February 1, 2010 Bravoking (Portland, OR) Yes, it's true, the boat does take on a lot of water. But this appears partly by design as there's a small drain hole in the back where it pours out when you pick it up, and it did not seem to affect the operation too much, other than a bit of listing and riding low in the water after a bit. The main complaint is that it fills up almost immediately.
I was very pleased with the range, which was great on our creek in back. Seemed to work as advertised as far as that goes. The controls worked well and it steered and moved fine until it got heavy with water in the ballast. It's not super fast but we had a lot of fun maneuvering in and out of the rocks in the creek.
Not as fun as we thought it would be February 1, 2010 Crystal D. Andre The boat was a great idea for my son however this boat runs out of battery very quickly and doesnt go very far. My son is 6 and I feel this boat should be for kids who are much younger or to be used in a small pool perhaps. Not good for lakes or going long distance.
Flawed design October 24, 2009 M. Laibe (Rowayton, CT United States) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
This toy overjoyed my 6- and 7-year olds. We took it to a local pond, where it moved slowly but was fun to control. Unfortunately, the hull penetration for the propeller allows water to enter the hull, and the boat starts to subside at the stern. It says to take it out and drain the water out periodically, which we did, and which would be fine except that after a few trips the boat stopped responding, of course about 20 ft away in the middle of the pond. We let it dry out for a few days, tried again and the same thing happened; this time there was no recovery.
The sad thing is that it looks like the design would be very easy to correct (by the mfr) but there's no obvious remedy for the user.
fun but batteries die too fast September 12, 2009 Richard L. Fitzer (Los Angeles, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It is a fun toy, but takes way too many batteries that run out too quickly.
