If you enjoyed these kinds of toys as a kid, you'll still love this one. After the first 10 minutes of our "testing" this my kids finally whined, "When can WE play with it?" We reluctantly gave it to them. As far as being educational, I don't look for a toy to be educational. That is why it's called a toy and not a school book! My biggest complaint is that if you press down hard on the trigger, it sends the car flying off the track. Now of course, the boys (age 4 and 8) love that part best. My frustration is that after 5 days and about 20 trips off the track, one car doesn't work right. It works only sporadically now. As a result, the trigger gets mashed all the way down and ends up being thrown from the track again. The Mustangs make it more cool for kids not into Nascar.

My Nephew gets great enjoyment out of his racing set. It is a great addition to his set that he currently has. It`s hard to find cars that aren`t over priced and the track helps to replace the pieces that have broken over time. I highly reccommend this if you already have a set. Need cars or additional pieces or as a starter set for a younger boy.
My nephew is 9 years old. Have fun playing with this toy it lets you remember when you were a child again.
