5 out of 5 stars Lots of fun, easy to use   May 10, 2010
D. Greenberg (Boston, MA)
My dad and I have a checkered history with RC planes - one has never lasted more than one flight with us. Last Christmas I bought this because it was super cheap (~$30 with shipping) so we wouldn't have to worry if we broke it. Turns out breaking it was never a problem. The wings on the plane are set up to automatically lift relative to the amount of thrust - so the only thing you have to fool with on the plane is the throttle. This makes it much easier to control the plane than with the more expensive models. Turning is also easy, as is landing. Since the plane flies itself somewhat with the automatic forward-motion=lift wings, landings are never hard (landings with an RC plane are what always killed our previous ones), and the foam body is actually pretty durable.
The plane is subject to wind obviously as it's so light, as well it does not like to get wet so don't land it in dew (the water will both mess with the electrics as well as weigh the plane down enough so as to make flying difficult). The flight time isn't long but is longer than ten minutes, and since you can charge from the radio control unit very quickly, is not limiting. Because the plane is very basic, it's not like you're going to spend hours flying this thing, but for fun family outings I'd highly recommend it. We gave it to my 4-year old niece to play with (with supervision) and she did fine. Have fun out there, this really is a fun little toy for the family.

1 out of 5 stars Didnt last long!   February 14, 2010

Seriously it took longer to put this together than it lasted after a couple of semi-rough landings!

1 out of 5 stars Do yourself a favor and don't buy this plane   January 30, 2010

I know this is an inexpensive plane but really don't bother. We only got three flights out of it before it was trash. The first time it "flew" for about 15 seconds before taking a nose dive in the ground. This mashed in the nose and knocked the wing off. Home to glue it back together and recharge battery. Next day it "flew" for about 20 seconds before nose diving again and doing more damage to the nose and knocking the wing off again. Back home to reglue and recharge. Third time up and another nose dive and broken wing.

When it does fly you really have no control. you can try to turn left or right but it doesn't help much and forget any kind of controlled landing. After each "landing" you can expect more damage to the nose and body.

Do not buy.

1 out of 5 stars Very Good if You enjoy Sticking Thermocol with Glue.   October 7, 2009

It arrives well packaged in a Semi-knocked down condition. As you start assebling it.. the thermocol parts already stuck with glue start falling apart. The manufacturers have anticipated this and have supplied a small tube of Glue... but the tube contains dried up glue... After a little effort and some fresh glue you get it all ready to fly and you realise.. it does not work...

Makes for a good showpeice or a Model to explain the kids the principles of flying and aviation.. expecting anything else.. would be dissapointment.

4 out of 5 stars Well the engines popped off and the nose is crooked   October 2, 2009
Jack D (Duck, Wv)
But the only thing keeping the plane grounded is that I haven't gotten around to gluing it back together (wifes pregnant and I don't want her around the glue)

It cant handle any wind over a slight breeze, tends to porpoise rather than climb, that can be over come by trimming it to fly a circle, and with enough height it can even do some basic stunts. It is not the easiest plane to master, not for indoors or a back yard (less than an acre) but for $25 is great fun.
