Cool Planets July 12, 2008 Jeanne (Mahomet, IL) Again, it's all about my boys. They are happy so I'm happy. But it is too loud. The boys don't mind though. I liked the audio CD that came with it, but it was had to hear over the motor. Again, my boys didn't mind. They were busy watching the planets and playing with the remote. It does make a cool night light, except for that motor. No, you can't have the light on without the motor.
Nice planets! January 11, 2008 J. Swanson (Minneapolis, MN USA) We got this for my son who's 3-1/2 - for his space-themed room - and he loves it. I thought the planets on this one were so much nicer looking than the foam ones....they look much more real. Yes, the motor makes noise, but not enough to be bothersome. It's really cute and adds a lot to his room!
Great for a School Project June 27, 2007 Avamarie Latimer (Farmington Hills, MI) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Unfortunately, I read the reviews "after" the purchase and when it said it needed 5ft, I got really worried because it was for my 4th graders Science Project. br /br / br /br /However, I found it very accomodating when it arrived!!! br /br / br /br /I needed to fit this Solar System into a smaller area than it was intended for, about 2ft. 3" x 1ft.4" box. I replaced the hangers with fishing wire but lined the planets up in proper order. I was also able to attach the DVD so people could come up and receive an educational summary of what they were looking at by pressing a button on the remote control button on the front of the display. My daughter had the star project so she was really happy!!
Great for my 5 and 7 year old February 8, 2007 Gadget geek (Chester County, PA, USA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
We made over our sons room with bunk beds. This was a great addition to our space theme. Easy to assemble (the kids helped by handing me the planets to put on the rods), easy to mount (just allow about 5 feet total circumference) and a nice addition to our bedtime routine. br / br /Only minor complaint is the motor noise but it's not loud enough to be bothersome.
Great Idea January 27, 2007 Antonia 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
Perhaps if the description was more complete, I would not have been disappointed. The best parts are the planets, though Saturn's rings are cardboard and the sun is a half dome."Easily mounts to any ceiling" means get out your electric drill and hope the bolts included will work on your particular ceiling. You will need 24" of clearance from the center of the sun on all sides. The mechanism to make the planets circle does not run smoothly. The child, age 6, likes it especially the CD and the remote control.
